About me: I am Gavin Masters, the author of the Bordertown Chronicle series, an entirely true set of novels about fictional characters in a made-up town full of monsters.

Some other facts about me:

• Over the course of my life, I've penned 8 novels and over a hundred novellas, short stories, screenplays and stage plays. Many were written under various pen names, so you won't easily find them. But if I trust you, or if you're a good PI, I'm sure you can find a way to read them.
• I have completed the 3-Day Novel Contest 7 times! (Yes, 7 times I chose to write an entire 40,000-word novella in 3 days! Yes, I am that crazy!)
• I have completed 7 novellas as a result of this process. And it's some of my best work.
• I won the 2nd place prize in the contest in 2015. You can read that novella here, or the full-length novel I turned it into here.
• My favorite of these novellas is a sci-fi called "Cloud City Falling." You can read a sample here.

My 4 simple rules for a happy life:

• Rule #1: Don't be an asshole. And you know when you're being one. You will encounter assholes in the course of your life, and they will do their best to bring out the worst in you. Don't let them.
• Rule #2: "I can do whatever the fuck I want." (Provided it does not conflict with Rule #1.) This should be your stock response when someone tries to tell you what you should wear, say or think. Or what you're allowed to write about, or who you're allowed to love. You didn't elect them. They are not paying your rent. They are not the boss of what is proper. They're just an asshole with a different idea of how to live. And they can fuck right the hell off. It is not your job to live up to their unrealistic expectations.
• Rule #3: If you must do something you don't want to do, do it immediately and as quickly as possible. It is astonishing how people will torture themselves, agonizing over something that would be far less painful if they just went and did it. Just do those push-up. Floss. Go to bed. Write that assignment. Book that colonoscopy. Have that hard conversation. Agonizing about it will only prolong it and make your life harder.
• Rule #4: Don't make things needlessly complicated.

What happened to GavinMasters.net?

I am proud to now be hosted by Neocities. I prefer their open-source, internet 1.0 vibe anyway. My old domain name expired. And despite the fact it had been set to auto-renew for years, this time it did not. So I lost it. RIP. Now they want $300 to reinstate it, which sounds remarkably scammy to me. LOL no, I'm not paying that. It doesn't cost $300 to move a few electrons around.
